Gutter Cleaning

Water Goes Where It Should

Clogged gutters send water down your siding and into your foundation instead of away from the house. We clear them out by hand and flush the downspouts so everything drains the way it was built to.

Why It Matters

Gutters are cheap to clean and expensive to ignore. Here's what backed-up water actually does.

Foundation damage

Water dumping straight down at the base of the house saturates the soil and works its way toward your basement.

Siding and fascia rot

Overflow runs down the boards behind the gutter. Wet wood stays wet, and wet wood eventually goes soft.

Ice dams in winter

A gutter packed with debris can't drain before it freezes. Iowa winters turn that into ice that pushes water under your shingles.

Pests and growth

Wet buildup is a nesting site. Left long enough, gutters start growing their own weeds and holding standing water.

You get the rundown

We let you know what we found up there and whether anything needs attention before winter.

Signs It's Time

You don't need to get on a ladder to know. Any of these means your gutters are due.

  • Water spilling over the edge during a normal rain
  • Dark streaks running down your siding
  • Plants or grass growing out of the gutter
  • Downspouts that trickle or stay dry in a downpour
  • Sections sagging or pulling away from the fascia
  • Puddles or erosion right at the foundation
  • Icicles hanging off the gutter line in winter
  • You genuinely can't remember the last cleaning

Most Cedar Valley homes need gutters cleared at least once in the fall. Heavy tree cover usually means twice.

Common Questions

How often should gutters be cleaned?

At minimum once a year, in the fall after the leaves are down. If you've got mature trees close to the house — especially maples or pines — twice a year is the honest answer, with a spring visit to clear what blew in over winter.

When is the best time of year?

Late fall, once most of the leaves have dropped. Clearing too early means you're doing it again in three weeks. Getting it done before the first freeze is what keeps water moving instead of turning into an ice dam.

Do I need to be home?

No. As long as we can get to the perimeter of the house, we can do the whole job without anyone there. We'll follow up afterward to let you know how it went and flag anything we noticed.

Can you clean gutters on a two-story home?

Yes. Two-story residential is routine for us. Tell us the height when you request a quote so we bring the right equipment and price it accurately.

What if my gutters are damaged?

We'll tell you what we found. Loose brackets, separated seams, sagging runs — you'll hear about it from us rather than discovering it during the next big storm. Gutter cleaning and gutter repair are different trades, so we'll be straight with you about what's beyond what we do.

Which towns do you serve?

Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Waverly, Denver, Independence, Evansdale, Hudson, Janesville, Dike, Grundy Center and surrounding Cedar Valley and Northeast Iowa communities. If you're just outside that range, reach out and we'll let you know whether we can get to you.
